If You Are Going to San Francisco...
...well I am as a matter of fact. This afternoon no less, but don't worry, I am coming home again. Do you remember a few years ago when I did a flight for no other reason than to earn miles that would give us upgrades? Well it turns out I am just 5,000 miles short of hitting a threshold that would give me and AJ certificates to upgrade any seat, any where, any time to first class (well any seat on Air Canada, but, you know, we fly with them a lot). So I got me a thinking, what's the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to accrue 5,000 miles? And it turns out both Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) were the winners. LAX had horrible schedules for what I wanted to do (fly there and back within a day) but SFO, oh sweet SFO, turned up trumps.
So that's what I am doing this afternoon. I'm already checked in, have no luggage to speak of, so it's a simple hop on the plane, sit for 5 hours, get off the plane, sleep, get back on plane, sit for 4.5 hours and land home. Gone for just over 24 hours. The bonus was that we got the tickets for free (well I think we paid $40 for taxes or a booking fee or something) and I'll also get double the miles because it's an Air Canada flight. The other bonus is that I am on one of the new Air Canada planes which has in seat power and your own Tivo like TV at every seat so despite the fact I couldn't get upgraded going there (1st is full) I have a nice exit row seat (lots of leg room) and my laptop will stay happy for the flight.
So if you are in San Francisco and want to have breakfast tomorrow morning (my treat!) let me know.
